The Memories that Drift from Mountain Peaks

The world’s great mountains are places of grandeur, profound beauty, and inspiration. But a visit to a remote peak is just a fleeting experience, held longer just in fading memory. This four-movement composition is inspired by the melancholy of such precious moments, and how those lingering memories may tempt one eventually to ascend again. This cross-cultural composition incorporates traditional elements of khaen playing, including the use of drones, and fragmentary references to the Korean gayageum sanjo genre of solo performance.
