Pan-lom Thao

In 1988, I composed this original piece for Thai ensemble, using the traditional three-part telescoping thao form, and expressed in Thai notation. This composition was then embedded in the larger composition Pan-lom, for large ensemble of Thai and Western instruments. While largely within the Thai classical idiom, this composition includes some non-traditional approaches to melodic mode and to rhythm, and an expanded coda that reprises an earlier part.
