Tashi Delek is a structured improvisation based upon the drone-melody structure of traditional khaen music, but with drones selected to result in unconventional fingerings, and thus a non-traditional melodic mode. The piece was titled upon dedication to a friend married with a Tibetan ceremony at which the piece was premiered. “Tashi Delek” is a Tibetan greeting and wish for good fortune.
